Our Springfield Values

In January 2014 we began the process of taking a closer look at what we wanted our school to be. We started this by asking governors, staff, children and parents 'which values do you think are important for us here at Springfield? and we voted for our top six.

The results were all collected and on Thursday 3rd April 2014 we launched our new values in a special service led by the children.

The values we believe that are important are:

- Aspiration

- Cooperation

- Determination

- Honesty

- Respect

- Responsibility

The photos below are examples of the work the children put in, in preparation for the launch.

Coffee Morning - 1st March 2016

Many thanks to the parents and Governors who came to have coffee and cake. Several games of Bingo were played and even Mrs Binoy was a lucky winner! There was a fabulous tombola and over £82 was raised. Some parents told us they would prefer to come in an afternoon so next time we are planning to have tea and cake with Bingo from 2:30 so you can come in early and then take your children home at 3:20. Look out for the date for this – it will be the last one before we move into our new building.

Mother’s Day Breakfast Club – 8th March 2016

We had a really fun breakfast club to celebrate Mother’s Day. Over 25 parents came who were each given some daffodils and a sash to wear. We hope you all enjoyed coming along – see you next year! Remember breakfast is open to the children from Reception to Year 6 every day from 8:15. They just need to turn up before 8:45.

Poppy Collection 2016

We had 3 special visitors to Assembly on Wednesday 9th March from the Bulwell branch of the British Legion. They came to thank the children for raising so much money for the Poppy Appeal and presented us with a special certificate. Ron explained a little bit to the children about how the money is used. We were delighted to learn that over £4000 pounds was donated by school children locally and over £33000 by the kind people of Bulwell in total. We will continue to ‘sell’ poppies in school in November.

On Monday 25th July the Governors of Springfield Primary School presented every child, staff member and governor with a commemorative mug to celebrate moving into our new school building.

The governors have been busy fund raising to pay for the mugs, with a jumble sale and tombola raising £360 and a donation from a local supply teacher agency of £200.

Mrs Francis, Head Teacher said "The children carefully carried their mugs home, they were so proud to have been given them by the governors. It was totally the governor’s idea to mark this event in this way, it was a really lovely thought.

The previous school building was erected in 1931 and whilst ex pupils, children, staff and governors have many happy memories of the old school, it really was not fit for purpose anymore. We are absolutely thrilled with the new building and we will be delighted when everything is finally finished."

Springfield Primary is situated in Bulwell on the northern outskirts of Nottingham. On behalf of all the pupils and staff at the school, I'd like to welcome you to our website and encourage you to take a look at what we are all doing this term. If you need a paper copy of any of the information on this website, please ask at the school office.
